Dr. Lisa Cuddy was a major character on House for the first seven seasons. She was the Dean of Medicine and Chief Hospital Administrator of Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital from Season 1 to Season 7. She was the direct superior of both Dr. House and Wilson. She's a specialist in endocrinology, but when she was in charge at PPTH, her administrative duties took precedence over her role as a medical practitioner. Later, Cuddy became concerned about placing Rachel into a prestigious academy for preschoolers, largely due to the rigorous testing procedures performed on the children. Despite thinking the school was a bad idea, House secretly worked with Rachel in order to train her on the same toys, puzzles, and tests that the school would be using.

Wilson actually told his ex-wife Bonnie to deny Cuddy the loft at every opportunity, in order to punish Cuddy for hurting House's feelings. House constantly bombards Cuddy with sexually suggestive comments, often remarking about the display of her breasts or the size of her buttocks. She has always seemed to enjoy this and even encouraged it during the poker game in All In. Once House started taking an interest in Cuddy's relationships, Cuddy began to believe that House was actually attracted to her. However, her reaction appeared to be that House had an earlier opportunity to have a relationship with Cuddy and did not do so.

House deduces that Cuddy is on fertility medication and was thinking about asking Wilson to be her sperm donor. Cameron resigns to try to mollify Vogler, but he's on the warpath. Cuddy supports Vogler, but when Wilson refuses to go along, Wilson is tossed off the board and House is given a one day reprieve. Cuddy is ready the next day to vote against House, but when House pulls off not one, but two miracles in that period, she refuses to go along. Vogler moves to have her tossed off the board, but she gives an impassioned speech to the rest of the board and instead of voting against her, they toss Vogler off the board instead. House, Wilson, and the team are elated, but with the loss of $100,000,000, Cuddy realizes there's nothing to celebrate.

In addition to this professional tension, Cuddy is also seen as the object of House's sexual and romantic fantasies. A brief romantic past when she and House were students is alluded to, and House often makes lewd comments about her body and fashion choices. House implies that she often wears form-fitting, feminine clothing because she prioritizes her professional life and would otherwise be seen as a frigid, cold-hearted administrator. Cuddy found that it was difficult to become attached to Rachel and considered giving her up. However, during a phone call with Gregory House and Allison Cameron over doing a dangerous procedure on another patient and Rachel crying, Cuddy found herself feeling more attached to the baby's needs. Natalie Soellner hid the pregnancy from her family and friends and when she went into labor, she panicked and fled to an abandoned house where she believed she had given birth to a stillborn baby and abandoned it.

Her father was Jewish from birth, but her mother was a Catholic who converted to Judaism when Arlene married Cuddy's father. She also comes from a long line of physicians - her great grandfather published a key medical text. We also know that she has also wanted to be a doctor ever since she was 12 years old. She often felt her mother treated her more harshly than her younger sister, but later came to believe that her mother only pushed her knowing that she was capable of great things. The only other salient fact about her early life is that she admitted to Wilson (who later told House) that she once slept with her father's best friend. It's mentioned in many parts of the show that she wants a child.

Cuddy gives Nurse Regina a script to take to the call center and tells her to make sure each copy is accounted for. House intercepts her leaving her office and tells her that she should have worn a sexier bra to close the deal. He realizes that either the insurance company or Cuddy made an unreasonable ultimatum, and she confirms it was her and isn't bluffing. House's patient has congestive heart failure, but Cuddy still refuses to go with his treatment plan - deliberately infecting him with malaria.

House finds a woman named Hanna who is trapped under a mountain of rubble. The first responders and Cuddy both tell House that Hanna's leg needs to be amputated for a chance of survival. Cuddy claims that the reason why he is refusing is because he is bitter over her engagement and what he went through with his leg years ago. During their argument, Cuddy tells him that she doesn't love him and to move on. Afterwards she is sent to the hospital but on the way she dies due to a fat embolism, caused by the amputation. With the pain he is dealing with, Hanna's death, and what Cuddy said to him earlier, when House arrives home he rips the bathroom mirror off the wall to get his stash of Vicodin.

According to rumors, Lisa Edelstein, who played Cuddy alongside Robert Sean Leonard and Omar Epps, two other original cast members, had contracts that expired after the seventh season. Because the show was only expected to go seven seasons, “House” had a limited budget for Season 8, and tried to negotiate lower rates for Lisa's and Omar’s return. Omar Epps took the deal, but Lisa had another offer to work on The Good Wife. It’s no surprise House and Cuddy’s on-screen chemistry led to a tumultuous romance that ended with little closure when Cuddy left the show one season early. House wrapped it all up in the final Season 8, but Cuddy was nowhere to be seen.

However, there has been a great deal of speculation as to why she did hire him. She has also carefully avoided questions about why she hasn't fired him, except to constantly describe House as "the best doctor we've got". Nurse Regina tells Cuddy that Chairman Wells wants to speak to her. When the nurse says he won't wait, Cuddy tells the nurse to tell him she has quit. Cuddy goes to sit in her car, but House finds her there. She tells him to pay Lucas the bet he made - they were having sex when he sent the emergency page.
Cuddy has an admirer in Season 5, House's new private detective Lucas Douglas, who tries to slip his invoices past as medical expenses when House won't pay them. Although Cuddy is flattered, she hardly sees Lucas as an ideal match. Cuddy once again offers him a good job if he comes back, but Foreman turns her down flat. However, when Foreman finds out he's unemployable, he agrees to Cuddy's conditions, but she withdraws her offer and instead insists Foreman return at his old salary and stay on House's team to keep an eye on him.
Based on Cuddy's assertion that she wants House arrested if he ever comes near her again after this incident, it may be safely assumed that the final nail has been driven into the lid of the Huddy coffin. However, it is still possible that they reconcile post series. At the end of the episode Top Secret, there were additional but non-explicit clues.
Cuddy sticks to her guns as House descends into a daze of Vicodin, alcohol, hookers and bad behavior. However, when House marries a woman who needs a green card, Cuddy finds that although she promised herself it wouldn't get to her, she realizes that House has managed to hurt her because she still cares about him. Even Arlene makes one last desperate stab to get them back together, but when House sees through the attempt, she tells them both that they've given up their last chance. The relationship hits another hitch when House finally meets Cuddy's mother Arlene. The two take an immediate dislike to each other even though Arlene presses both of them to formalize their relationship. The three-way dynamics get worse when Arlene nearly dies of heavy metal poisoning that Cuddy had early tossed off as hypochondria compounded by House's combination of medical genius and bad bedside manner.
